Managing Director James Biggin recently attended the Sheffield Business Awards, where he was shortlisted for Business Person of the Year. The black tie event was a collaboration between the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and the Sheffield Star and was attended by 650 of the leading business people from across the region.
Although not the overall winner on the night, James was delighted to have made the shortlist of three. “This is the icing on the cake to a brilliant 2013. To have made the final 3 in one of the UK’s biggest cities is a fantastic feeling and the team are thrilled. Without their hard work and their understanding of my vision and goals none of this would have been possible. We are all very much looking forward to a successful 2014”.
The team was also fortunate enough to have been asked to produce the awards for the night. All 15 awards were engraved and supplied well in time. The order was placed with total secrecy and only the engraver at the factory was able to know the details going on each award. “This was the strangest order we have been involved in for a long time. Being on the shortlist meant no one in my team was allowed to do our level of proofing and checking. We had to leave everything completely with the Sheffield Chamber. In fact they spelt my name wrong on the Business Person of the Year award, by calling me Marc Wildes!!”
This Business Person of the Year shortlisting was just one of several highlights of the last 12-18 months at the Sheffield’s leading supplier of branded merchandise. James continues, “We have taken on staff, strengthened the company, won an endorsement from Theo Paphitis via his #SBS Twitter campaign and started a new promotional merchandise company Stand Out Promotional Ltd. We have plans for good levels of growth during 2014 and we most certainly have the team and structure in place to achieve this.”
