About The Steel City Walking Umbrellas Range

We source walking umbrellas built for UK weather and repeat use, so they don’t become one-event giveaways that end up in a bin after a windy commute. The usual failures are a frame that kinks in a gust, a canopy too small to cover a bag, and a runner you have to wrestle in a doorway.

Ribs that flex, not snap: We favour fibreglass ribs because they bend back in a gust instead of kinking like cheap metal. That’s what stops an umbrella turning inside out and getting binned after one rough day.

Stormproof frame, choice of grip: We recommend the Executive Walker Umbrella as our go-to walker because the 585mm stormproof fibreglass ribs and 14mm iron stem take everyday gusts, and it opens automatically with one hand. The 1000mm canopy keeps a logo readable, and you can pick a rubber-coated, faux leather crook or EVA straight handle – the grip most people judge it by.
Recycled canopy, best-seller: The FARE AC Regular Umbrella is the one we reach for when the material needs to stand up – its WaterSAVE canopy is made from recycled plastics and is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certified, with flexible fibreglass ribs and automatic opening. At 1000mm open it’s a solid everyday commuter brolly, and it carries a 5 Day Express option.
Extra coverage in wind: The Value Vented Umbrella is our pick when it’ll see exposed, blustery conditions – the vented canopy lets gusts pass through instead of catching, and the fibreglass shaft and frame hold up. At 1300mm it’s the largest canopy here, so it covers shoulders and a bag comfortably, with a 5 Day Express route if your deadline’s close.

Just wanted to share some overwhelmingly positive feedback about James and his incredible team. I recently placed a very small, but crucial, order for an embroidered puffa jacket. My original supplier completely let me down, calling late on a Friday afternoon (3:00 PM) to push the committed delivery date from Tuesday to Thursday, which was too late for our filming schedule. In a panic, I called James's team at 3:05 PM that same Friday, honestly expecting a firm "no." However, I was met with unbelievably helpful and flexible service. The team, specifically Rowan and David, were absolutely first class! They went above and beyond, making it seem like nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to their efforts, the jacket will now be delivered on Wednesday—a whole day before we need it for filming! This is old-school customer service at its very best.
