Two members of the Steel City team, Georgia Brookes and Rowan Andrews have recently been awarded their TPM (Training in Promotional Merchandise) BPMA certificate!
Georgia and Rowan with their TPM certificates
What is the Training in Promotional Merchandise course?
Set up by our industries trade association, the BPMA (British Promotional Merchandise Association), the TPM is the only UK industry specific entry level educational course. From essential training on technical knowledge to promotional trends and promotional merchandise fundamentals, the course is built by the industry for the industry. With expert knowledge available 24/7, both Georgia and Rowan were able to compliment and further their existing day-to-day training and development at Steel City.
Both Georgia and Rowan have been working hard on the TPM course over the past 6 months alongside their busy roles and the whole team are absolutely delighted that the duo were awarded with the highest result of merit.
Feedback from the course
1. How did you find out about it?
Rowan: “I was offered the course by MD James when I started back with the company. I jumped at the chance, I believe it’s important to learn and grow when given the opportunity.”
2. What was your overall impression of the TPM course?
Georgia: “It was really interesting and insightful. It has helped me in my role as sales admin and also in my apprenticeship, by giving me knowledge that may have taken me years of experience to grasp.”
3. Which elements did you find particularly interesting?
Rowan: “The origins of the promotional merchandise industry and how it’s grown to where it is now. I find the manufacturing processes very interesting, and the course gave a great insight into how the products are made. And of course, the move to sustainability and how this will impact the future of merchandising.”
Georgia: “I found the course on sustainable merchandise the most exciting, I learnt what makes a product sustainable, but also why sustainability is so important in the industry today.”
4. How has the course helped you with your role?
Rowan: “I have a greater understanding of the business, the processes and requirements. I deal with both sides of the sale, so knowing how this works has been great in the way I respond and problem-solve with customers and manufacturers.”
5. Any other comments…
Rowan: “Thank you to BPMA for providing the training!”
“It’s more than a certificate in my opinion; they committed the time and put the effort in to learning so that they can improve how they can do their role for our business.” MD James Biggin remarks.
A big well done to both Georgia and Rowan!
