A bold, refresh for our city centre office

Back in 2021, we teamed up with internationally recognised and Sheffield-based street artist Kid Acne to transform the tired, graffiti-covered garage doors at our city centre office. Given a blank canvas, he brought his bold, unmistakable style to the space—painting his signature Stabby Women motif of fierce female warriors.

Fast forward to 2025…

After a few years of wear and tear, we decided it was time to freshen things up, and who better to call back than the original artist? We’re absolutely delighted with the result: a vibrant new mural that brings colour, creativity and energy to the front of our building.

“Kid Acne’s art is a brilliant talking point and has created a real feel-good energy – not just for our team when we come to work, but for clients, suppliers, passers-by and even local art lovers,” says Managing Director James Biggin.

A New Style

This time around, Kid Acne took his characters in a new direction—moving away from the Stabby Women and introducing a brand-new cast of playful, expressive characters. Each one is dressed in an animal-inspired costume, representing a unique emotion or temperament. Kid Acne describes the work as an “army of different personalities from different walks of life,” each expressing “different temperaments, different emotions.”

Above the mural, the hand-painted phrase “WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE OUT FAR” adds a poetic layer to the piece.

It’s a reference to Where The Wild Things Are, which was the inspiration for me to start painting kids in animal costumes almost 30 years ago,” explains Kid Acne. “‘OUT FAR’ makes it more poetic, as if they are further out in the wilderness. The costumes are a visual representation of our spirit animals. Of course, these dogs aren’t necessarily wild animals—they’re more likely domestic pets—but may still have wild tendencies, as we all do at times.

And while his style has evolved, the intention remains just as powerful: to inject positive energy into everyday spaces.

“We’re so excited to be revealing the new murals,” James adds. “His art has given the space energy and identity. It’s fun, colourful and a great reflection of the creativity of our business.”

Street Art with Sheffield Roots

Born in Malawi in 1978 and raised in the UK, Kid Acne, real name Ed Bradbury has long been a fixture in the international street art scene. From self-publishing zines and painting graffiti in his early years, to creating murals across Europe and exhibiting in major galleries, his distinctive style blends mythology, typography, and fantasy with sharp graphic lines.

Despite his global recognition, he remains deeply tied to Sheffield, continuing to contribute to the city’s creative landscape with large-scale public art and collaborations like this one.

“We’re so grateful to Kid Acne for returning and creating a brand-new set of characters for our garage shutters,” says Jenni Burton, Marketing Executive. “This project has gone from being a way to deal with graffiti to something that brings a real sense of pride to our team—and genuinely lifts people’s spirits.”
