At Steel City, we choose Fruit of the Loom lines we can really stand behind. We know how frustrating it is when kit lets you down – tees that twist, polos that lose shape, or branding that just doesn’t look right. We want to make sure your team looks sharp, and that the branding lands well every time.

This range is our go-to starting point because we know the blanks take print and embroidery cleanly. We’ll lock down the artwork and timings with you so you can kit out staff, clubs, and events without the headache of rework.

Print-friendly core garments: We start with the core essentials – 100% cotton tees, polycotton piques, and cotton-rich hoodies – because we know they hold ink and embroidery really well without going thin. It’s about avoiding those fabrics that can look a bit rough after a day’s wear. We want your logo to sit perfectly on a garment that feels good to wear.
Proof-first artwork control: We’ll always run every order through a proof approval process before production. It’s so important that we catch any details early, like logo sizing or placement, so you’re completely happy. Once you sign off, that’s when the clock starts, allowing you to plan your event or start date with confidence.
Reinforced seams for washing: We prioritise details like twin needle stitching and taped necks because we know these items get used day-in, day-out. It’s about durability – making sure the collars don’t curl and the seams hold up when they’re being washed and dried week after week.
60°C polo rotation: Our selection includes poly/cotton pique polos with a 60°C wash rating because we know some roles need that hotter, more frequent clean. It helps the kit hold its shape, so you’re not having to replace limp, misshapen shirts halfway through the season.
Sizes that cover teams: We specify lines that run from S right up to 5XL, including ladies’ and children’s fits where possible. It’s really important that everyone on the team feels part of it, without having to mix and match different garments just to get the sizes right.
Branding method that lasts: We’ll usually recommend 1-colour printing for tees for a clean look, and steer towards embroidery for polos and hoodies. Embroidery is robust and withstands wear and washing really well, ensuring your chest branding stays readable and professional for the long haul.
Lead time you can plan to: Our average lead time is around 10 working days from proof approval, which helps you plan. If you’ve got a tight deadline or an event coming up, just talk to us – we’ll be honest about what’s achievable and guide you to the garments that fit your timeframe.
Baseline range, not a ceiling: We use these Fruit of the Loom lines as a strong starting point because they work. But if you have specific brand colours or needs that sit outside this range, we’ll use our expertise to source the best alternative that ticks all your boxes.

Tubular tee stability: We recommend the Fruit of the Loom Original T-Shirt because the tubular body and taped neck really help keep the shape. It reduces the twisting you sometimes see on cheaper event tees, meaning the branding stays tidy – whether it’s for a one-off event or part of a welcome pack.
60°C wash polo shape: For uniforms, the Fruit of the Loom Poly/Cotton Pique Polo is a great choice. The 60°C wash rating and reinforced seams mean it can handle the daily grind and still look presentable, even if it’s being washed constantly.
Cotton feel without shine: If you want that cleaner, softer hand-feel, the Fruit of the Loom Premium Cotton Pique Polo is the one. It avoids that shiny, tired look some blends get over time, making it perfect for regular office wear where you want to maintain a quality image.

Just wanted to share some overwhelmingly positive feedback about James and his incredible team. I recently placed a very small, but crucial, order for an embroidered puffa jacket. My original supplier completely let me down, calling late on a Friday afternoon (3:00 PM) to push the committed delivery date from Tuesday to Thursday, which was too late for our filming schedule. In a panic, I called James's team at 3:05 PM that same Friday, honestly expecting a firm "no." However, I was met with unbelievably helpful and flexible service. The team, specifically Rowan and David, were absolutely first class! They went above and beyond, making it seem like nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to their efforts, the jacket will now be delivered on Wednesday—a whole day before we need it for filming! This is old-school customer service at its very best.
